Head Coach - Kathe Stufflebean
Head Coach Kathe Stufflebean began her coaching career in 1976, coaching the Gold Coast Swim Team in 1995. Kathe co-coached SCAT (with Chris Richmond). Since the summer of 2004, Kathe is once again the head coach of GCST. Kathe has also been the Marshfield High School Head Coach since 1987.
Over her 29 years of experience, Kathe has received multiple honors, including Oregon Swimming Coach of the Year in 1984, Outstanding Constribution to Oregon Swimming in the 1992-1993 school year. Kathe is a level 5 ASCA Coach and has coached a swimmer that made it into the Olypmic Trials. Kathe has also been the Head Coach for the Zone Team for three years. Kathe continues to inspire and encourage swimmers of all ages here at Mingus Park Pool.
Assistant Coach - Denise Stuntzner-Gibson
Denise Stuntzner-Gibson has been involved with the sport of swimming since the age of 6. As a competitive swimmer, she set regional records in butterfly and freestyle events and was a 5 time, 4A State High School Champion. She was also a High School All-American.
Denise competed in 6 US Junior National and 4 Senior National Championships between 1976 & 1982. She attended the University of Michigan on a swimming scholarship. During her college career, she was a Big 10 Conference Champion and record holder, NCAA All-American and captain of the 1982-1983 varsity team. Denise was also selected for a national team to compete at the National Olypmic Sports festival in 1981.
Though Denise currently works full-time in the field of social work, she enjoys assistant coaching for Gold Coast Swim Team. She still competes as a Masters Swimmer.
